Dear Families and Friends of Menlo Park Academy of Dance,
We are writing to share some news on behalf of the studio and Menlowe Ballet.
We have decided that after Menlowe Ballet’s 2020 spring season, INTERLUDE, Menlowe Ballet will focus the remainder of 2020 on several exciting dance projects while navigating the complexities and implications of California’s 2020 employment law, AB5. The new law requires some significant adjustments employing dancers and the full operational and financial impact is not yet known. While we are pleased that we are able to fully comply with AB5 for our upcoming spring season, expanding employment on a larger scale presents many unknowns for us. For this reason, we will not produce the large scale production IT’S A WONDERFUL NUTCRACKER.
In light of this, Menlo Park Academy of Dance will be bringing an exciting new holiday production to the stage at Menlo-Atherton Performing Arts Center on December 12 & 13, 2020. This delightful holiday ballet will provide a multitude of performing opportunities for Menlo Park Academy of Dance students. Details will follow, but mark your calendars now! Auditions will take place Sunday, August 30th at the Menlo Park Academy of Dance studios.
Menlo Park Academy of Dance and Menlowe Ballet remain committed to offering meaningful performing experiences to aspiring dancers of the studio. As such, select students will once again be invited to participate in Menlowe Ballet’s upcoming spring season, INTERLUDE, May 8-10, as well as in any future Menlowe Ballet seasons.
